Leaving Space for Creativity
People are most excited and committed to a topic when they can share some aspect of themselves, or have the space, permission, and confidence to create something.
Assignment Creation.
Challenge students to go beyond content-assessing quizzes! Allow students to create something to assess a deeper understanding of the topic.
Assignment Submission.
Maybe reimagining assignments is overwhelming for you. Or maybe you are interested in taking baby steps toward teaching a more creative course. I find leaving space in Assignment Submissions encourages the creative process, and students take more ownership because they have the ability to choose some aspect of it.
